Life at the Lake
A blog about the camping life on Hickory Lake
Getting Ready!
Last Saturday Scott had an open house at the campground amid 10 inches of new snow. Today it was sunny and 65. That’s spring in Minnesota for you!
We are already at work preparing for the season, which is just eight weeks away!

What are some of your favorite memories when camping? Is it the smell and sounds of your campfire? Is it that food seems to always taste better while camping? Is it spending time with your family away from all the hassles of home?

We have been vacationing at Hickory Lake for the past six summers. These are some of my greatest memories: waking up to the sounds of the loons, seeing the beautiful sunrises across the lake, watching my kids play with so many kids (both new and old friends), witnessing new friendships blossom, the smell of fresh coffee in the Gathering Room, the sounds of kids playing in the pool, and the lake when it is as smooth as glass.
Each summer there are experiences, both old and new, that we look forward to. Our kids would not be who they are today without "growing up at the campground." Just yesterday my oldest said to, "I just can't wait until May 1st". I asked, "Why?" "Because that is when all my friends come back to the campground and I miss them."
Spring Fever?
Even though this winter has been mild, if you are like me thoughts of spring are often on my mind almost immediately after the holidays.
